The first week of my new training regimen has come to a close and all I can say is what a week! Looking back at it, I’m not sure how I found the time to do it all, but I did. I managed to get in 2 swims, 3 runs, 2 weight sessions, stretching, and even my very first hot yoga class. Even writing it all out exhausts me, but not as much as actually doing it. Given that it’s only the first week, I’m sure that it will get easier as the weeks go on.
My biggest accomplishment this week was during my long run. I actually forgot I was running. I don’t even know how to describe how big of a deal this is, but I’ll try. Up until my long run, this epic state was only something I read about on other running blogs and in books about running. It’s basically like the Bermuda Triangle, except people have lived to tell the tale. I certainly had never experienced it before, or believed I could experience it at all. Well like all other parts of this journey I’m on, I was absolutely proven wrong, and now, I am in search of this feeling every time I hit the pavement. I’ll be the first to say that the chances of this happening are slim, but I’ll take experiencing the feeling once versus not at all. It was euphoric and I have never felt more free.
